The Bushies
(Originally the Wingecaribee
Bush Runners - founded in April 2003 - and subsequently the Wingecaribee Bush
Runners and Walkers)
The
Wingecaribee Bushies are a
collection of (young and) old folk who enjoy running, walking or cycling in the
beautiful outdoors of the Southern Highlands Bush. Run sites are selected
quarterly and published in advance, and are mostly on dirt roads, fire trails
and bush tracks in many parts of the Wingecaribee Shire. Every weekend, we go
to a different place. Our runs/walks average 90-120 minutes in time, and the
distance varies according to the speed and fitness of individuals. We meet at
7.20am on Sunday mornings in Summer, and 7:50am in
Winter (exact changeover dates are detailed on the Programme). When all runners/walkers
are safely home, we generally meet for coffee and refreshments at a nearby
cafe. For more details, call Max on 4883 4434.
“The
Bushies are an informal group in the Wingecarribee
Shire that meets for runs, walks and bike rides, in attractive locations, using
common start and end-points. Participants acknowledge that the activities are
not guided or supervised, that they choose their own routes, and that they are
responsible for their own safety.”
